Description

The first time that discovered the elephant, the first holotype were made up of parts of the spine, leg, and above the head. That head was almost unnatural, known at the time of the variety of ways that the jaws of mammals had, although commonly developed, the shape of the jaw of these were elongated incisors separated from other dental parts. The elephant did not correspond to other known type, flat, with a short lower jaw, with giant tusks sticking out front, with a single hole in front of the face, initially the hole was taken as the eye socket, being reconstructed sometimes like a cyclops, and even, they did reconstructed with telescopic eyes, protruding like a snail, we currently have on good authority that had lateral eyes.
The diet of this animal has been discussed many times, especially with the lack of teeth differentiated as other mammals, it has been assumed several theories, including that used gizzard to grind food inside, so the probability of lips (yeah, lips mammals) but there is a hypothesis that is given by logic, is not likely to be a herbivore, the elephant could be rather, an insectivore.

The lack of teeth, the fangs position in relation to the skull, would mean that this could have been a gigantic insect eater. Probably used his large teeth to open or from gigantic insect mounds, then to feast on. The shape of the mouth would this an unlikely, but it has been speculated that this animal had a long, sticky tongue that allowed achieve their food and so consume. That is sustainable because the shape of the lower jaw, there is a huge space that could have been part of a bag that had held or stored tongue when not in use.
